FOOD AND DRINK
Wonderful food and drink brands abound in Devon, making the most of an incredible array of producers, outlets, distributors and experts. And of course, that extensive and collaborate network is all built on the county’s beautiful bounty - produce of the land and sea.
The West Country has more than half of all the organically farmed land in the country, with the South West producing more food than Scotland and twice as much as Wales.
The county’s food and drink association has hundreds of members. Regular winners of national and international awards, Devon is a springboard for brands be it a local, regional, national or international level.
Food and drink producers can be found spread all round Devon’s 2590 square miles - Riverford Organic Farmers, Burts Potato Chips, South Devon Chilli Farm, Hanlons Brewery, Lyme Bay Winery, Powderkeg, River Cottage, Frobishers, PickleShack, Chococo, Sandford Orchards, Well Hung Meat Company, Good Game, Rod and Ben’s, Portlebay Popcorn, Luscombe Drinks, Sharpham Wine and Cheese, Quicke’s Traditional Cheese…the list goes on.
And there’s no time to even begin to mention the restaurants, pubs, cafes, bars, hotels, cookery schools and courses all rooted in fantastic dining, from chef Michael Caines’ incredible venture at Lympstone Manor on the Exe Estuary, to the Pig at Coombe in East Devon, from Gidleigh Park and Bovey Castle on Dartmoor to Borringdon Hall near Plymouth.
