LIFESTYLE

What have Jack Wills, Crew, Saltrock, Quba, Finisterre and Lazy Jacks all have in common? They are all fashion brands that emerged from Devon.

The county has a tradition of attracting and inspiring creative spirits who draw on the beauty of the landscape, sometimes the coast, sometimes the land.

And that sense of place feeds directly into the county’s plethora of new lifestyle brands still emerging today - Bird Sunglasses, Dewerstone, Diamond Beach, Rudd Wellies to name but a few (lifestyle wellies? Yes - sometimes it rains in Devon!).

The range of lifestyle brands is impressive and covers various sectors well beyond fashion and clothing.

Internationally-renowned Princess Yachts in Plymouth offers lifestyle products at the top end of the market - stunning yachts sold around the world. The company, with a £640m order book and 2500 employees, is part of a thriving marine sector.

Dartington Crystal, based in Torrington, is another premium brand, and Britain’s last remaining large-scale manufacturer of handmade crystal glass.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2017, the company’s products are enjoyed world-wide, from first class cabins with British Airways to handmade bottles used for Pernod Ricard’s luxury whisky brand Chivas Regal.
