Sponge is Europe’s largest independently-owned custom digital learning provider and proud supporter of Plymouth’s booming digital and creative industries. Headquartered at Plymouth Science Park (PSP), the company has four other UK and Ireland offices but its Devon base remains the largest. Around a third of the company’s staff are Plymouth University alumni.

Sponge works with organisations to create learning experiences that improve people and business performance. The company’s clients include global brands such as Coca-Cola, Tesco, AXA and the United Nations, to name just a few. Its digital learning solutions, which include elearning, interactive video, animation, learning games, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are used in more than 124 countries worldwide.

Sponge was founded by American-born entrepreneur, Louise Pasterfield, in 2004 and the company now employs around 120 people. Louise and her team have led Sponge to 17 award wins, including 12 gold awards within the last three years. In 2018, the company won Learning Technologies Company of the Year silver award.

Sponge is always growing from its Plymouth base, with further expansion planned in the UK and continental Europe, as well as the USA. Louise’s ambition is for Sponge to be a global leader in digital learning by 2022. To achieve this, the company is keen to boost its workforce three-fold over the next few years and encourages anyone who is keen to be part of a rapidly growing creative company, and winner of the Western Morning News’ Best Technological or Creative Business 2018, to visit its careers page to find out more.
